The Unbeliever: Darrin E. Johnson Takes on the Big Screen

August 31, 2018

An attorney by day, actor by night, Darrin E. Johnson will be in the upcoming movie “The Unbeliever” based on the novel by E.L. Baylis who is also directing the film.

The novel’s synopsis provides a brief glimpse into the movie:

When rich atheist Art Wellington gets shielded from gunshots by a complete stranger, he risks it all to find out why. In his search, Art begins to experience a power he didn’t know existed from a source he refuses to acknowledge.

In another place and time, someone has suddenly died. Everyone is calling it an accident, but twenty-two years later, John Williams, the former sheriff of a small town, gets a message spray-painted across his truck that blows wide open a murder investigation in which everyone in town is now a suspect.

In a twist of events that no one can see coming, these two stories collide into a dramatic climax in which the unthinkable is revealed.

WiLD 94.1 Orlando & The Freakshow: On-Air with Darrin E. Johnson

June 13, 2018

Darrin Johnson - In The News

Attorney Darrin E. Johnson was on-air with Orlando & The Freakshow of WiLD 94.1 discussing a lawsuit of a person who videotaped on his mobile phone a scene after a shooting took place and later deleted the footage.

Johnson shared:

“If you are called as a witness to criminal court to serve as a witness you have to show up. If there’s a trial going on and you’re subpoenaed to come to court to say what you saw, you have to show up. You can’t just say, ‘I don’t want to show up.’

In Florida, you don’t have a duty to help unless you start to help. It’s called the Good Samaritan law.

He has evidence of a crime … if he has that 43 minutes of everything that happened and where this altercation came from.”

Darrin Johnson at GHYC

Attorney Darrin E. Johnson presented “Sweat the Small Stuff: Details Matter,” to The Bonnie Hecock 2018 Scholarships Awards Ceremony at the Gulf Harbors Yacht Club in New Port Richey, Florida.

Sometimes it’s the little things that will make the difference between a successful situation and one that is not, and here’s why…

  1. Gives people confidence in you
  2. Details that may not matter to you, may matter to your customer or client
  3. Details show professionalism
  4. When you pay attention to details, it shows you care

The annual scholarship awards are given to four Tampa Bay area high school students embarking on their undergraduate degrees. The Gulf Harbors Yacht Club was founded in 1965 as a social organization promoting boating and camaraderie among its members and the yachting community.

Tampa Bay Times: Cops used dead man’s finger in attempt to access his phone. It’s legal, but is it okay?

April 20, 2018

Darrin Johnson - In The News

Attorney Darrin E. Johnson was quoted in the Tampa Bay Times’ article, “Cops used dead man’s finger in attempt to access his phone. It’s legal, but is it okay?” discussing an attempt to unlock the mobile phone of a deceased person.

Johnson shared:

Darrin Johnson, a criminal defense attorney based in New Port Richey, pointed to a case out of Virginia that drew a distinction between the methods based on the Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination.

A trial judge determined that being forced to disclose your passcode is a no-go because it would involve divulging knowledge from your mind. But requiring you to provide a fingerprint is fair game.

“A fingerprint is not the same as compelling an individual to convey information that they have,” Johnson said.
